Program questions

Before you apply

What is the schedule?

The course runs 8 weeks, Monday through Friday evenings from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Attendance is mandatory.

Where are classes held?

Online via Zoom and in person at a location in Los Angeles County.

How often is the program offered?

At least four times a year. You can apply any time.

Do I need maintenance experience?

No. Employers prefer a consistent work history, about six months of customer service experience, and a talent for hands-on work. If you are good at fixing things, this program may be a great fit.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Employer partners and funders pay for your training. You do need to commit to attending every class, because missed classes can end your enrollment.

Am I paid during training?

No. Training is free, and JVS SoCal provides supportive services to see you through it. In some cases we can lend you a Chromebook for online classes.

Is a job guaranteed?

No program can guarantee a job. When you finish, you get job placement help and the chance to interview with our employer partners for full-time roles. More than 80% of graduates across our career training programs are placed.

Do you help after I am hired?

Yes. Career counseling and guidance continue as you grow in your new job.

What if I have a criminal record?

Every candidate must pass a criminal background check. It is administered and reviewed independently, there are no exceptions, and JVS SoCal covers the cost.
